Mixtape: Healing Magic

Earlier this year Emily was in the throes of a particular difficult migraine situation when she put out a call to the VGM Jukebox community. "Please share some feel-good VGM medicine," she wrote -- and within minutes, the responses started pouring in. The deluge of musical affection did indeed have healing properties, and now Emily wants to reflect this potent magic back on you through the power of mixtapes. Whether you decide to save this dose for a difficult day or choose to rip open the packaging right away, here's hoping it works for you like it worked for her! And of course, thanks to all the patrons who sent their love in that thread: Jay, Spritz, Ed, Mike, Carlito, Daniel, Ben, Jordan, Ken, Calvin, Pernell, Alex, and John. Your kindness meant so much, and it always will.

  1. Norihiko Togashi was the composer of the Super Wagyan Land soundtrack. Not Nick Eastridge.

  4. I'm in mid-listen right now, so if there is a reveal at the end, I'm gonna feel really stupid, but why is my sixth sense telling me that the Racing Hero track was Embassador Ed's offering to this? :-)

Either way, it's a fantastic track that I've long loved, and was exceedingly happy to hear! And to everyone else who lent aid to Emily, you all rock! Thank you!...

.....well, WE all rock, I guesa! The track from Prune was my offering. But in the end, we ultimately are the ones getting the reward here, and she just served all our goodies back to us in an excellent mixtape! So, ultimately, it's Emily that truly rocks, amirite? :-D

One thing that makes me happy listening to this is how very differently we all approached the matter of "healing music" stylistically. In one sense, this mix is almost one great big hodgepodge. But there is a common element throughout: you can feel the love and well wishes and joy in each and every track! Each one is medicine, and each springs from a well of awesomeness. I don't say nearly enough just what a fantastic community this is. I am so honored to be a part of it! And even though these tracks were intended to be our gift to Emily, and the mixtape is Emily's gift back to us, I can't help but feel like each of these tracks is also a gift from each other to ourselves as well. Thank you very much for the gifts everyone! And I hope you enjoy Prune in return! :-D

    Cheers!

    St. J - the grateful!
