Ep. 15: Buncha Blunders

Josh and Emily make some blunders in this episode, the most egregious being their failure to thank one of their patrons for a suggestion! (maxwell7301, we'll try to make it up to you next episode.) Other errors include Emily's outdated statement that she still only has one tweet, Josh's inability to remember his own Twitter handle, Emily's really boring Ultima story, and probably some other things they haven't even caught yet. You may have also noticed the issues with the iTunes feed earlier this week; thanks especially to Kenny, Mega Matt, and all other patrons who alerted us to the situation. Geeze. Guess the potions were particularly strong this week!

  1. A lot of the tracks on that Mega Anser "game" are pretty great. Ominous may not be the right word for that track you played, but I think the whole soundtrack has a sort of tense and dramatic feel that is fairly humorous when thinking about the purpose of the software. "Data Transfer" has sort of a somber goodbye feel to it, like you're saying farewell to all of the data you are about to transfer

  2. Great tracks, guys! And the Ultima story was fine.

  3. To answer the question, yes, my wife Brooke played the game as a kid. She still has the game, the the sweet Game Boy carrying case that she sometimes uses as a purse, and the original brick Game Boy, battery cover intact! (They go missing alot). I don't know if she ever beat it though, I'll have to ask her later.

    1. Oh man, which carrying case? I have a soft one that I've had forever, but it was never really good at the "carrying" part. As soon as the case goes vertical, all the carts fall out of their slots. Makes me crazy.

If you and Brooke are up to it (and able), take a picture of the case and tweet it at us. I might even be able to persuade Josh to give you a gold coin in thanks!

  4. I love how that distinct Konami style was injected into one of the most Western style RPGs of the 8-bit era :D

  5. Well maxwell7301, you get a thank you from me; recommending an obscure, early Konami track makes you a Maxwell after my own heart.

Funnily enough, when I read the track list I thought, 'I recognise Ai Senshi Nicole, that's an obscure old Konami game I haven't got around to listening to yet,' before realizing I was thinking of something completely different, before listening to the episode and discovering that it really was an obscure old Konami game. I tell this story because I am excited to discover that I am definitely, certainly developing a paranormal sixth sense for classic Konami.

Although, that section of the track that Emily singled out? The only thing it reminds me of is the William Tell overture.
